Getting 8800gtx abroad

Dont think this breaks the rules but if so sorry and please delete.
Off to the States early next year, are there any warrenty problems or differeing hardware issues if i buy a 8800gtx (or equiv) in the USA.
 
The only problem will be if it needs to be RMA'd id have thought, as you would have to RMA it back to the place you bought it from in the states :)

I take it that all other aspects of the Spec would be the same? If i bought an XFX sample for example then i wonder if i could RMA it to XFX UK/Europe.
Im not set on this, just thinking about it as im over there soonish.
 
I would email XFX (or whoever) and ask them. The card will be identical. A card you buy in Florida or California will be the same as a card you buy in London or Manchester. They all get manufactured out in the Far East anyway. What their policy is on where you purchased it and what happens in the case of an RMA, I don't know. I imagine they would be flexible. After all, people move countries all the time and take their PC's with them, so I imagine there would be an allowance for this. As long as you have proof of purchase. Best thing is to contact them and ask. Let us know what response (if any) you get.

My concern above anything else though is how you bring it back? What with hand luggage restrictions these days, I don't know if you'd be able to bring it back in carry on luggage. The alternative of having it in a suitcase being chucked around by burly luggage attendants in the airport doesn't seem too attractive to me...

There arnt any hand luggage restrictions in the planes i fly in. ;)

about the same treatment they get with most delivery firms i would guess
