Getting a BT line installed

Fed up of not getting competitive internet/phone prices by having only a Virgin cable line so im going to get BT to come install a phone line.
Do i have to have a contract with BT for any length of time? If so does the contract have to include BB and telephone?

12 month min contract, you have to pay for installation too. £120 for both for me twice in the last twelve months, might be differnt now.

Yeh its still £120, but ill save that in a year with BB prices alone.

Having a BT line, would that mean i can get any BB provider right from the start through the BT line?

If there's been a line installed previously you may be able to reactivate that with no installation charge.
