getting a cat ... wheres the cheapest

I know exactly what you mean about the boxes. Any box, no matter the size, he'd be straight into it and claiming it as his own. :D

Azagoth your cat looks very, very similar to mine!

People shouldn't buy cats at all, they should be free to good homes. It irks me every time I seel classified ads in the local paper saying "Kittens - £40".

Most good breeders don't make any money when they sell them for three figure sums, those selling moggies for £50 almost certainly aren't.

As for the OP, a combination of local pet shops, pets at home and supermarkets seems the best way to get it cheaply.

Most supermarkets sell bowls, collars etc rather cheap so try there. Pets at Home would possibly sell a cat carrier, i cant remember where we bought ours from.

As a few others have said our cats never used a scratching post - they preferred using an old bit of wood that my dad left in the garden. They also never slept in any of their beds.

Someone said to me once the reason cats like sleeping on beds, sofas etc is because it smells of you so if you've got any old pillows or blankets I would just use those.

My boss recently bought a kitten for £200 !! He said he bought a rather expensive "play area" and apparently the kitten was more interested in the cardboard box lol - I did warn him!!

Also we recently bought a cat comb which is much better for grooming than a brush as it gets more fur out.

good luck lol

Not going to star the whole house cat thing again. But please don't unless you live next to a motorway / middle of the ghetto.

cats like being outside, atleast get 2 so they cn be miserable together.

Or just not get one at all instead of allowing it to roam the neighbourhood and get run over and spread toxoplasmosis and other diseases...

Sadly, Parker isn't with us anymore. His kidneys gave in and he had to be put to sleep. :( He had a good innings though, I got him when he was 6 weeks and he was 19 when he fell ill.
Thats a good knock

Selling "moggies" isn't about making money!

Cats have kittens, then they go to good homes for free.

yeah we live in a block of flats the only thing that we are going to have to do is get the council to board up the vents with the vent covers as the kids have removed them and a cat can get access to the underneath of the ground flats

my cat is pretty well behaved, she loves her post and doesnt go near the furniture:)

edit: and shes a perfectly happy house cat. she sleeps most of the time anyway :p
