Hi all,

I've made a 5 minute 720p movie in Premiere Pro, and want to export it to keep - for uploading onto Youtube, but mainly to burn as a DVD and possibly as a blu-ray with other clips.

What's the best way to do this and achieve a respectable file size? At the moment i'm getting huge file sizes no matter which default option I choose - which is best, and then how else can I encode it so the file size is smaller - yet retain the quality?

Many thanks

If you want lossless encoding, look at Lagarith or Huffyuv codecs. The files are still big, but smaller than uncompressed. Otherwise you're looking at high-bitrate H264 or similar.

You might also want to look at exporting as a WMV file.

You can play about with the data rates till you get a compromise between file size and quality you're happy with.

It's also easy to share with other users as WMP plays is back out of the box.
