Getting a forum going

Ok had a really good idea for a forum, relating to the open source community, i've set it all up, just one thing left now, actually getting to forum noticed and getting people on there, anyone got any suggestions on how i can get things on the road,

"The open source community" is a bit of a large target, no? There are already lots of busy well known specific forums around like this... Things like this are generally born out of necessity...

Getting a forum going is extremely hard these days. I created one last month for an up and coming musician who has a huge following on YouTube and Myspace yet it hasn't really taken off yet.
However, once you get a few members and they start posting a lot it seems to grow quite rapidly.
