getting a hum sound through the speakers !

hi guys im useing a creative fatality champion sound card and logitech z623 speakers , ive just bought the speakers but the sound card is a couple of years old ! i had the humming sound on my old speakers so i bought the z623s! i thought id solved the problem only to hear the humming sound asgain i think it must be the sound card what do you think ? is this a regular problem on pc sound ......thanks in advance

if you plug some earphones into the line out on the sound card is the hum still there? Also try moving the card to a different pci slot.

on my old speakers it was always there , had these speakers a week and not heard the hum till last night ! yes its just the same with head phones ......ill try moving the sound card ......thanks kei

Certainly points to the issue lying with the card. You could also try enabling spread spectrum in the bios if there are options for it as this is supposed to reduce EMI. I had problems with my x-fi and it was only when i replaced it with a xonar essence and had worse problems did i find that it was to do with the slot on the motherboard. Moving the card fixed it, though i've got no idea what caused it to begin with.

Try muting Mic, Aux, Line-in, Midi and see if it helps.
