Getting a new contract

Been looking at getting a contract on a phone over the past cople of days and ive noticed this deal http://www.themobileoutlet.co.uk/handset.asp?txtMode=3&txtHandset=298&txtNetwork=5&txtTariff=103 , Am i right in thinking that i could take out this plan but use another phone instead of the the lg one provided as im looking into getting the n70 or 6280.

A friend recently picked up this very deal, and after her uncertainty regarding the network (signal etc), she has found her concerns to be totally unfounded.

ive seen a deal with an 6280 with 12month 1/2 line rental with the same tariff. Im not sure as im hearing mixed feelings abouth the 6280 handset.
