I turned my trusty old 28" WS on this morning and kaboom! It finally gave up the ghost, scaring me wittless in the process. So tomorrow I've got to go and splash the cash on a new TV. I've decided on the Samsung LE26R51BD, screensize it's roughly the same as my old 28"er so I won't be downsizing much so to speak.

Anyone have any tips on set-up and such, like what the colour setings should be at for optimal viewing? You know, things like that!

God choice mate - they are a decent make and model - as stated above , just mess around really - altho I found auto setup to be pretty reasonable

Man, was I lucky! I finally decided to leave the house at 10:30 this morning in an attempt to track one down, after hearing that they're selling like hotcakes. Anyway, I arrived at a well known high-street store and managed to snag one that had just been taken off the delivery lorry. It was the only one they had and they didn't know when anymore were coming in. Apparently, they'd ordered this one because they didn't have one left to put on display in the store.

I have to say, I'm seriously impressed with this TV. The picture quality is outstanding compared to my old 28" CRT, both with the analogue and digital tuners. Set-up was a dream, no problems whatsoever. Plus, no dead-pixels as far as I can see and I've had a really good look.

crt tellys are measures by the actual viewable area, unlike monitors, so your 26" lcd will be visibly smaller than the 28" crt

CRT are measured by the size of the tube of which some is hidden by the bezel, this isn't the case usualy with TFT's. In fact you have your whole argument back to front.

Pink... I fell off the wagon and bought a Toshiba rather than waiting out the Samsung M61 shortage. Hopefully it won't be far off PQ wise ;)

Place I got mine from has stock still. Aww well i'm sure you want miss the extra 3 inches :p

For £800 cheaper and with an extra HDMI input I can quite happily live without the extra 3" ;)

Also, I began to realise a 40" screen would end up being blocked partially by my surround speakers.

Can't wait to get it set up and running along with the Denon 500SD I've also ordered :D
