Bit of a long tale but simply......A friend got an Acer laptop with Vista that could be "downgraded" back to XP ( he needed XP because of some old programme ).
Now when this programme was installed he had nothing but bother and put it to a pc repair place. After much head scratching the formatted the machine and installed an OEM copy of XP Pro but the key ( vista only ? ) that was issued with the machine does not work.
How does he go about getting a new key to activate it ? He's obviously paid for Windows already, just not this version.
Will MS or Acerissue a new one ?
