Next month, pay pending, I'll be getting a PS3. I'll be using it for just a few games at the moment and also for playing Blu-Ray movies. However, I really like the look of that Killzone 2, but can't play FPSs on a joypad.

So, is it possible to use a keyboard+mouse on the PS3 with it having up to 7 Bluetooth controllers available?

I do not think Mouse and keyboard are supported in Killzone 2. Few games support it, Unreal Tournament III being one that does.

No, it won't be supported as developers like to keep a level playing field online. Just think about the massacre if a high level PC player got online on a PS3 with a mouse + kb against a load of people on pads, it wouldn't be pretty.

I used to suck with a pad too, within the completion of my first game (Uncharted) i was more than competent. Now i've been playing for nearly a year i'm what i would call well above average, usually coming high/top of the scoreboards in online games. If you can play with a mouse + kb with a little practice you'll adapt to a gamepad pretty damn quickly.

Slightly O/T but I find it harder on COD with a PS3 pad, than a 360 one. But I suppose its one of those things you'll adapt to.

Yep purchased my Ps3 nearly 2 years ago but having the other 2 consoles and nice PC I never purchased any games for it except some PSN ones... However with KZ2 being released at last I will finally now buy a game for it :D

The pad isn't that bad, I'm still of the opinion that pads suck (relatively to mouse + keyboard) for fps' but it's still worth playing them anyway - I survived Resistance 2 without getting ****** off so it's not too bad. Usually get in the top 4 in Resistance mp competitive. I didn't buy the ps3 for fps' generally so if that's your primary want then you might want to try and sample a mates first or something. You can get the fragfx accessory but it's supposed to be hit or miss but as close as you'll probably get to mouse and keyboard.

I too played uncharted first of all and after that it got me used to the pad pretty well although I'm still relatively poor (only had the PS3 a month). Been playing Valkyria Chronicles mostly recently though so I'll be back to base level no doubt.

It's worth pointing out that many PC gamers (myself included at one point) are used to the fact that they need to be 'competitive' in terms of their input hardware. An example would be, a guy with a ball-mouse or a slow response wireless mouse these days would always be at a disadvantage to someone with a high-precision laser mouse. Because of this many heavy PC gamers always fuss over which mouse + keyboard they want (he says with a razer lachesis sat next to him).

On a console, everyone has the same pad, the playing ground is even. If you suck with a pad, so will thousands of other people around the world so you won't be alone. Like a keyboard + mouse just practice and you'll get better. To write off a game because you have to use a pad is mental, especially if it's a game that's as good as Killzone 2 looks to be.

The truth, although you do end up with the odd numpty that'll go out and buy a 3rd party pad with rapid fire to get an edge.

Just practice with a pad and it becomes second nature. I play FPSs on both PC and console reguarly and have no problem switching between the two.
