Getting a Recording Deal ?

Hi,

I have a friend at work who is trying to get a record deal or at least get noticed by the right people. She has already been part of a group back in 1999 called Word on the Street (There still on the web), unfortunately for her the producers and recording company did not really promote them enough and it all fell through in 2 years. Atm She has got 12 songs in her new album and has all the necessary voice and looks i think to make it as solo artist. She has done open mic nights and other small venues but as yet there has not been any interest to get her to the next level

Does anyone here have any advice or contacts within the music business ?

Gordy - I remember was in the music business could you offer any advice/help please ?

Does she have a myspace page or somewhere where I can listen to any of her tracks?

Does she play many gigs?

Does not have a website or myspace page yet although pictures and a few sample songs of her with Word on the street are listed on yahoo music group. She has not done many gigs but has done a few open mic nights in london and performed at the cafe de paris in piccadilly. Its really now a matter of getting a music producer for one of the may labels to listen to her demo tracks, but better still to come and see her live at one of the open mic nights and go from there...
