Hi All

Does anyone know a Cisco voice engineer I can pay to get a Cisco 7970 working with a SIP provider - someone like Voipfone or Sipgate etc?

This is a bit of an obsession - despite many hours trying myself I never got it up and running.

I know there's simpler phones out there that will do what I want, but I really like the phone and want it up and running.

Cheers

Phil

Hi Phil,

Saw your trust message, I'm almost certain that it can be done, and was going to try getting one of mine up and working directly with my Sipgate account before trying to offer any setup advice! Going through my Callmanager Express setup was pretty straight forward.

I'll continue to have a play and if I get it working I'll update you with how!

Excellent! Thanks for getting back to me. I have a config file that partially works but the 'phone kept getting blacklisted because of the way it did authentication when in TCP mode'. I think the guy who created the file was routing traffic through his CME server. I can send it to you if it helps?

Have to agree with the above - what do you like about the 7970 so much? The SPA5xx series use the same handsets.

It's completely ridiculous I know, but I bought the phone a couple of years ago and it sits in the corner of my office taunting me.

Just wondering, would it be easier to buy a used Cisco router with CME? I'm thinking this would be a better approach if I'm looking to deploy multiple phones around the house rather than try and get the handsets working on their own.

What do you think?
