This only started happening a few days ago, but every time i shutdown now, i get an error to do with the floppy drive.

This is strange because i dont have a floppy drive, and never have on this windows install.

The only thing i've changed recently was installing numerous Anti Virus programs (not at the same time).

And i also moved my hard drive and dvd drive to a different location in my case, but they're still on the correct channels for the IDE cable.

I cant get a screenshot of the error because the computer shuts down and it isn't on the clipboard anymore.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Well, the first thing is to tell us the exact error message if you can.

Second thing is to go over the PC with a fine tooth comb deleting any references to the anti-virus programs you had. Registry and c:/.

Ok, got the error message:

The drive is not ready for use; it's door may be open.
Please check drive A and make sure a disk is inserted and that the drive door is closed

Ok thats interesting, looks like task number 2 may be pertinent now.

Try something like CCleaner for the registry though to be extra careful.

A lot of antivirus software check the presence of a disk in the A drive on shutdown to prevent an infected disk being booted from on restart, so yeah it may be related to the AV software you installed.

Ok, so its definatly something software related? I'll check through everything and remove anything related to old software :)

Or even automatically scan the removable disks on shut-down to ensure that they won't cause trouble when you re-start.
Try removing the "scan on shutdown" option on the "removable disks" tab... I have no idea what you're using so you'll have to nut the rest out yourself.
You'll probably find it shuts down quicker when you've palyed with the settings too.
