Getting a V8 for the weekend

LHD though. Although not too bad on the road if you have a passenger it's a nightmare at drive thru's and car parks with automated exits.
Having driven a LHD car on the UK roads for the last 15 years I'd say the above is rubbish. If you are progressive driver on dual carriageways/motorways I find being on the left gives you a better view. Car parks are now negligible as everything is done online opposed to having to interact with physical machines......and as for drive-throughs, if someone spends that amount of time going through drive-throughs by themselves then their choice of car is the least of their worries.

No one should be suggesting an older Mustang. All the finesse of a drunk duck. They are a straight line car and that's all. Only the later (petrol) Mustangs ate any good, and worthwhile buying.
Again rubbish, older mustangs with some very minimal mods will provide plenty of performance/fun compared to similar offerings for the price.

What about a nice old Rover for that 70s London gang boss look?

Sorry, they suck..straight line only. Everything on that era was 'on a budget'.
Weren't they all live axle which meant turning at speed was 'interesting' due to the tyre skip. They look good though. I've not driven lhd in the UK before bit I'd imagine overtaking to be hard as you have to be very committed and be all the way on the other side if the road.

If the person is set on a Mustang, then the fourth gen GT with a nice set of dished flushed wide wheels looks amazing. I still wouldn't recommend any Mustang below sixth gen for handling though. Sixth gen (2015+) is when they finally got good.

Really depends what the person is after though. Do they just want the V8 sound and torque, or are they after a little beastie for fun?

A V8 BMW is probably the right car. They can be expensive to fix however.

Heck, if we're going down this route, let's do it with some proper old skool class:

Really good value if you’re measuring £/kg. Interior looks nice.

Live axle yes but with a decent set of springs/shocks they handle a lot better than a lot of the crap you hear people say about them, especially for the price.

I've had decent mix of cars over the past 15 years including a new 2018 Mustang GT and a 911 997 C4S....but older 2006 Mustang GT is the one I've kept throughout. Yes it's got a cheap plastic interior, traction control is non-existent and it has no flashy gadgets....but EVERY drive puts a smile on my face. A raw drive that lets you have a lot of fun without having to do breakneck speeds.

Well things got interested when I was browsing Autotrader and came across the Jag XFR. Yes I know I wanted a weekend V8 but having checked what a dealer would give for my A1 S Line I'd just have to front £15k for this:

So I've gone from a weekend V8 to a daily V8 haha

@Rilot amazing that purple one

24k? Seems too much unless I’m missing something

Pretty sure you can get one for around 15k last time I checked

What about; a Jaguar S-Type R? 4.2 litres of supercharged goodness.
I had one years back and it was a fantastic car. Lovely to drive and had an awesome supercharger whine when pressing on.
