getting all songs from ipod to itunes on my pc

I just upgraded to windows 8....it DID tell me to de-authorise the pc before i installed it but I forgot

I thought I would be able to sync my ipod with itunes on the pc and all my songs on the ipod would be on itunes on my pc (like it was before i installled win 8), but there is only about half of them on my pc

anyway to get them all from my ipod to the pc without searching through my pc for all the random mp3's i have put on my ipod ?

Goto file > transfer in purchases

Restore the backup of your iTunes library and just dump it back into iTunes. Job done.
