hi i installed some bitfenix ext cables in my pc over a year ago and a few weeks later i upgraded to gtx480 sli,was constantly getting system restarts with error 116,tryed updateing my bios/re-installed win7/ran memtest but nothing fixed the problem, then things got worse,my bios ioh voltage was stable at 1.10 but then i needed to increase it to 1.30,i though my mobo and my graphics cards was faulty at one stage so i decided to give it a clean the other day there and decided to rip out the bitfenix pci ext cables and hardwire my graphic cards to my psu,i thought my gtx40 were jst crappy clockers as they only did 800/1650/1848 stock volts,if i tryed to overclock the memory even with only 2% my pc would crash, temps would hit 90 in sli, since i removed the ext cables my pc hasnt crashed in days,my bios ioh is stable again at 1.10 but the biggest surprise is that my gtx480 sli now overclocks to 860/1800/2200/ thats quite a jump from 800/1650/1848,my pal was supposed to come today to buy them as i was intending to upgrade to 7950 cf,but ive put it on hold for now as my system is finally stable and they now oc to gtx580 speeds and that handle all my games with atleast 60 fps, they only problem is my pc dosent look as nice without my white cables,do you get a warranty with cables if so il return them....

You cleaned your system, temperatures dropped. Overclocking is a privilege and how much you get is drawn from a hat.

I wouldn't be surprised that your PC was stable after a clean. Dust build up results in higher temperature.

Strange one that? Ive used the pcie extensions on my two rigs, get the same overclocks with or without them.

mp pc was spotless to begin with, ive had a look at the cables and found one of the pci ext cables had come loose, very strange because ive had these cards over a year now and they never oc that far before never ever,it now looks as though they werent getting enough power cause of dodgy cable which made me think i had a faulty psu cause the systeem was stable until i started a game up,it then would restart

So you ran the system for a year with no proper issues, installed a new graphics card and then blame the extension cables? Hmm.

Extensions will give a very small voltage drop due to the additional connection and extra cable length but you'd need really sensitive equipment to even see the drop. They could be faulty of course but considering they ran everything fine for a year then I doubt that.

It's probably the cleaning that helped.

Your message was incredibly hard to read with no proper punctuation. We normally start a sentence with a capital letter, then leave a space after a comma. It just helps to split all the words up and makes it easier on the eye.

I would say it was down to a build up of dust and maybe (very slightly a maybe) the extension cables. Good to see you are not having issues now and probably a good move holding onto them as they are still great cards.

I never moan about spelling/grammar/punctuation as mine is shocking but that was hard to read.
