Hi all,

How difficult is it to attain a Aussies work visa? I have a first class honours degree from the university of Leeds (computing + AI) and my wife has both a degree (Business Administration) and soon a masters in Marketing. Both young with a very decent work history.

We would love to visit Aus for a year to work and travel, im told we have pretty good chances of getting in, especially as I see there are jobs upon jobs available for both myself and her.

Now, I dont really want to apply for Citizenship (im already a UK and Canada passport holder), but just want a work visa. From what I know, these can be obtained before you even have a job.

Could anyone with first hand experiance give any more details? Time frames, fee, if its possible it or not etc.

Finally, is it possible to have tri-nationality? I.e. 3 recognised passports?

Thanks all,
TM

Do a quick google and you'll find a few companies who do this for you. You will have to provide some details to them, prove you have a passport valid for the stay, and also prove you have some means of support (a few grand in the bank) for the first 1-2mths when you get over there in case you don't find a job. Oh, you'll also need a plane ticket (think it has to be a return also). You can also only work for the same employer for a 6mth period and not a day longer. Oh, i think you have to be under 31 also. Think the fee was about £150.

I applied for my g/f's brother on the net, he got a reply within 2 days and a confirmation of visa came through email 7 days after online application. When he get's over there in feb they stamp his passport on entry and that is when his 12mths visa begins (i.e. you can apply now and fly out in July and the 12mth only starts in July).

Wow, thats very very quick. Do you know what sort of visa it was? i.e. a student one or a skilled professional one? I'm looking for the latter, which lasts for 4 years and I would assume doesnt have the 6 month job limit.

But thanks for the reponse, I can't belive how quick the visa came through.

Guys, this is absolutely amazing, exactly what I was looking for.

Me and the Mrs are most likely looking togo in 18-20 months time, so when would be an appropriate time to get the ball rolling?

Thanks all,

Can't you just sneak in and claim asylum when you get there?
Whilst they sort it all out they should house, feed and clothe you.
If you get ill they will pay for treatment.
If you have a kid whilst you are there then they are guaranteed citizenship.
Bargain.

Why don't you go troll a different thread VIRII?
