Morning All,

A friend of mine leant me a Sigma 70-210 F2.8 to have a play about with, it fits the 350D fine.

I turn it on, and it focus' fine and I get the red light to confirm it's focused fine, then I take the picture and on the small digital display it just flashes

"ERROR 99"

Anyone ever seen this before?

Does anyone know of any issues with this Body/Lens ?

Thanks all :)

you had it working on a digital body before?

if its one of the older lenses it may not work and might need to be re-chipped.

I'm not sure as It's not my lens. To late to do any precise work now :(

Will have to do it tomorrow.

I'm having a similar issue with a Sigma 70-210mm but for me it's 'Error 01' - have tried cleaning contacts but to no avail.... any ideas??! Is it similar to error 99?

It's probably because sigma needs to reverse engineer all their lenses to fit canon or nikon bodies, and when that lens came out, your 40d or 5d2 etc were not out yet hence it is not compatible, the only way to make it to work is send it to sigma and have the firmware in the PCB inside updated.

hmmm... interesting....... is it pricey? Or is it possible to do it myself somehow??

bought off eBay you see, where the seller sold it as 'EOS compatible', so am probably reasonably entitled to a refund if it's going to cost me lots.....
