Getting an uber around Yeovil?

You might be OK in and around Yeovil, maybe Sherborne but I don't think you'd want to rely on being able to get an Uber to and from places like Castle Cary or Stalbridge, they're tiny - even if they do have Uber operators, it wouldn't surprise me if you get very few takers wanting to take you 15-25 miles to and from those places depending on what order you're planning on visiting.
There's car hire available on Pen Mill Trading Estate (walkable from Yeovil Pen Mill station which i'm guessing might be how you'd be arriving to the area), might be cheaper overall for a day or two to hire a car and drive yourself around.

Can be pretty expensive between Yeovil and Wincanton - I live near Wincanton and have been quoted like £120 before after a night out in Yeovil, normal times anywhere from £25-60.
The 58 bus is pretty regular between Yeovil, Sherborne, Henstridge and Wincanton though a bit of a walk to Stalbridge from the bus stop, I'm not sure off the top of my head what is available bus wise to Castle Cary.
EDIT: There is quite a few small taxi operators out here but they don't tend to be cheap.

I've just volunteered the Mrs to do the driving tomorrow. We've got a wedding to go to and I don't know anyone, but by the sounds of it this is not going to be easy/cheap to Uber about.
I live in a rural area myself so I understand what it can be like although Uber service is getting better around us recently, it's never really something I'd ever used before.

Save yourself avoid Sherborne!
though stuff like the castle is nice but there are some very strange people living there.
