bah getting really peeded off, called the council twice and the DVLA, untaxed banger laid up in one of the 4 public spaces by my house, no tax since April and i would be damned if it had an MOT....

anyone got any tips it's like they don't care, i am seriously considering pushing it into the middle of the road and then calling the police

When you say 'pubic space' - is this a 'visitor' parking space in a residential parking area?

In which case it is possible that it is technically not part of a public road - despite not being specifically owned and allocated to any individual resident. If this were the case, then perhaps someone has SORN'd the car and left it there? That might be why DVLA aren't interested.

Have you tried to follow up with them and see why they are apparently uninterested in an untaxed vehicle?

Had this before, told the Police it was leaking petrol in the end, suddenly they deemed it a suitable fire hazard and risk to public safety, didnt even check it was and sent a recovery wagon the next day

The police or council will only really do something if its causing an obstruction. Get a few mates round and bump it into the middle of the road and they will sort it.

There was a car that was dumped round the corner from my mums house a couple of years ago. The police or council wouldn't do anything about it and eventually someone decided it could be used as a skip. So one day it had loads of junk in it from people that thought it was acceptable. So someone realised that it was unlocked and rolled it into the middle of the road during the night and first thing the next day the recovery lorry was there taking it away.

Apparently the police or council wont do anything because they get charged to get it recovered and wont do that unless its an obstruction. They do not just push it out of the way as it could become another obstruction so they are required to remove it.

It does really depend where the spaces are, if they're parking spaces for private flats for example that'll may well be private land and therefore whoever owns the car is doing nothing wrong.

Took the council around 8 weeks to do something about a heavily accident damaged car which was parked up down our road, though I can't be sure how quick after it turned up someone reported it.

The council slapped a notice on it and with 24 hours it was gone. Don't know if the owner or the council removed it.

The car wasn't causing an obstruction it was just accident damaged.

Do you live on a new build development and if so are you sure the council have adopted your road?
