Hi All,
I used to be massively into PC gaming, building and OCing but mainly due to kids and money have drifted well away from this world. My current PC is LGA775 and DDR2!

I have been lucky enough to get a budget together for a new PC of around £800-£1000.

I know from what I have managed to keep up with that I want to go Ryzen but other than that I'm open to suggestions. The only things it must have are audio ports for a 5.1 system, future proofing as best is possible and the ability to hit a decent OC.

I have a case and screen/keyboard/mouse etc but will need the following
CPU
MoBo
GPU
RAM
SSD/M.2
Cooling
PSU

The end result I would want to be able to play top end system intensive modern games at a medium/high gfx level at 1920x1200 (my max screen res)

Any suggestions or advice would be amazing. Thanks all, I am really looking forward to getting back into hardware again! :-)

hi i have just done a quick spec for you. It is a little over budget, but for what you require it will be a nice system to consider.

I have included a ssd and m.2 but if you wanted to sav e£70 you could just go a samsung evo 500gb ssd for £150 there is also slighty cheaper graphics card but I have choose gigabyte for the forum rep support and good rma available.

I'm sure a few off the othe other guys will have suggestions for you too

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,119.63 (includes shipping: £11.70)

Thanks so much is a great starting point, that is a bit more than I wanted to spend but equally I fully understand this isn't a cheap game!

Do i really need X370? I was considering a nicer end B350 to save some cash. Other than the headline items (SLi, RAM supprt etc) I dont fully understand the difference yet. that what I am currently reading up on.
Also, is the Ryzen "x" variants worth the extra?

there is a slightly cheaper gigabyte board a 350 one, but here is the comparison

the x370 better board with , solid VRMs and stock cooler can handle 3.7ghz overclock , to push more with a lot more volts then step it up than the one the cheaper gigabyte, but its still a good board and can oc on it

also a lot go for the asus rog strix b350, but me personally i had a bad experience with it and found asus wouldnt help, the ax370 I have now is a fantastic board

a lot tend to go for the standard ryzen

Thanks so much for the help @marco.da.man

Sorry for all the questions but where would you look at gfx wise? I know you added the 1060 in your build spec, would you stick at that, AMd alternative?
Thanks again!

its down to personal choice really some prefer amd others nvidia. you can go next step up for a 1070 but again thats more money.

I was like you been out of building a while and had to do catch up, which is fun.

but there is lots off helpful people on here

Could overclock a bit on that stock cooler and motherboard. Also 8GB RAM isn't ideal, but didn't want to go too far over-budget.

Swap out the GTX 1070ti for a GTX 1060, 16GB RAM and more storage if you want to allocate the budget differently (but remain around 1k).

Would need to know what case you have, as that Zotac 1070ti is very long (300mm) and the Gigabyte 1060's worth getting are 280mm.

Would pick 500gb SSD over 256gb m.2 anyday, specially the way ram prices are going up, extra 2 seconds to 10 isn't worth it, double the storage is!
Spire cooler that comes with the chip will have you good to 3.7ghz, want numbers then you'll be looking to step up

Highly recommend the G1 1070ti, mine hit 64c when gaming at 2ghz clock
If going zotac, go the amount extreme !
