Getting better radio signal - DAB worth it?

Since moving rooms within my rented place, I'm struggling to pick up decent reception of Radio 1 on my old radio alarm clock, which is really frustrating.

Just wondering if a DAB radio would improve reception and worth the money, or should I just get another normal one, with a stand up aerial maybe?

Inmy lounge my Panasonic Hifi system has a thin aerial cable taped to the wall and I receive my channels quite clearly. It's just my room that appears to be the problem.

DAB is apparently good in my area but I don't really want to pay the extra for it unless getting another normal radio won't do the trick.

cjkennedy and I share the same view: The problem isn't whether its DAB or FM.... It's picking up a signal, so a better aerial is needed rather than changing radio formats. Now, if a new receiver has a better aerial then you'll get a better signal and if not then you won't.

Incidentally, FM can be quite forgiving of poor reception. It'll go hissy long before you lose the signal. DAB is pretty much all or nothing.

Just to end this thread, a new ordinary radio alarm clock did the trick - Sony dream machine. The current one is also Sony dream machine, but an older version which I suspect lost its aerial cable a long time ago, hence not being very good.
