Well I started a new job the other day (worked 3 days)

And I am so bored with it, tried to look on the good sides(im in the sun)

But I get so bored, and everyone is a fair bit older than me so no one realyl to talk to, start at 8:40 and finish at 5:45. I love the 20 min bike ride there and back it's really nice.

How do you steer clear of bordem?

Is it worth looking for another job or will it get better with time?

Sorry for the negative post, first time for everything.

If work was fun, you'd be paying them to do it.

You just have to grind through it tbh, I listen to music while I don't have to talk to anyone, which helps me.

I can work any 3 shifts, 9am-6pm 10am-7pm or 11am-8pm on a weekend and 12-9pm if i work in the week. I get bored stupid. To combat boredom i often dance at my checkout. You think i'm kidding?

Meh, I've been bored at work the last three days. Only started back on Tuesday - so obviously whilst I still remember how to do things, they want to ensure I do so correctly so haven't been piling the work on.

I should enjoy the fact I have no work and am basically spending the entire day having a laugh, browsing the internet and getting paid very well for it, but I cannot get into that mindset as the job used to be my career - though now I just go in to help out during Summer since I left to continue my education.

It's VERY boring having to keep yourself occupied :/

Heh, checkout work is pretty much the dullest job ever. Rest assured that almost anything you end up doing in the rest of your life will be an improvement!

Oh, and how's Edinburgh getting on? I only moved away 2 weeks ago and I'm already missing it!

It's lovely today, sunny and warm. Nothing else exciting, Fringe soon *joy*

What is it you actualy do, and what sort of job do you think you'd enjoy? Might help us answer that :p

if you have a few different tasks to do, try and mix the ones you enjoy more or find more interesting with the boring ones, so you won't be too bored for too long. Or just try and get stuck in, once you do the time can fly :)

Bah your bored! I had to stop myself falling asleep today!

So glad I leave in a weeks time. :D

I also have an MP3 player, but I really need to change the tunes. I'll get through 8 albums at least twice everyday. :o

You work at B&Q right? I work at Focus and the checkout people are always bored - thankfully I'm one the few who isn't checkout trained (and I don't plan to be) so I get to be on the shop floor doing manly stuff like mixing paint and making furniture all the time.

The people I work with on the shop floor are all great lads who like the same kind of stuff (comedy / music / computers etc) so we just mess around and talk about the Jeremy Kyle show all day :p

its a couple of hours into the working day and ive almost read all of the news.bbc site, all over the ocuk forums

that leaves reading anythin on digg before i have totally ran out of entertaining things to read on the internet

luckily i am only working a half day today (well its the staff summer party this afternoon which pretty much means a half day as i will slip out of it and go home :D )

you people should be worried about your jobs if youre sat bored at work. learn to fake it otherwise if i was your boss id either:
1. give you work to do
2. give you the sack

:p
