Hi,

People on my domain are getting bounce backs from emails they havent even sent. They get this error message:-

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

******@hotmail.com on 06/11/2007 10:53
There was a SMTP communication problem with the recipient's email server. Please contact your system administrator.
<imc2-s4.hotmail.com #5.5.0 smtp;550 Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable>

This is quite worrying as the SMTP logs also say no email has been sent either to this people or persons

any ideas what is causing this?

I sometimes get some of these. Once I got 300 of these types of responses where it looked like I had sent random emails to people. I suspect it is where someone has used your email domain (if you have catch all email setup) and used it as the 'from' address. Therefore, any responses will be sent back to you.

If it is concerning you, email your ISP and tell them this is happening.

it's just spoofed addresses - nothing you can do about this really other than delete them.
