One of the front suspension coils appears to have gone in my wifes Fiesta. Its presently parked outside the house, and is not drivable as a result. I was wondering if anyone knew what would be the best/cheapest way to get this to a garage for repair; get the garage to pick up the car or use RAC homestart?

No matter what there will be costs involved, Maybe more beneficial to get a local mobile mechanic to come and change it on the spot. Just an idea

As others have said if your have RAC or AA they should do it for you.

I had a flat on my way home at night not long ago and the assist service that came with my car used the AA to drop my car home for me.

My free AA cover from my Halifax Ultimate rewards account actually included recovery to a garage when I had an oil pressure warning. Might be worth checking your cover or benefits if you have one?

I would check the small print of your cover, AA for example (and therefore probably RAC) won't tow your car if its within a mile or so of home, maybe thats different if you have one of their expensive options.

Same thing happened to my fiesta 6 months ago, from what I read at the time it is fairly common on fiestas.

It's not too difficult of a job to do yourself (assuming you have the tools), but if you manage to get it to a garage ensure you get both sides replaced at the same time.

Thanks you for the feedback. RAC are coming out on Monday, and local friendly garage is expecting it to be dropped in. I don't have the tools to attempt this myself, nor indeed the space, the car is on a packed terraced street.

This has happened to me 3 times and each time I've just driven it.
We used to have a Fiesta and tried moving it with a broken spring, 30 seconds later we had a Fiesta with a spring through it's tyre... Luckily they were about ready for replacing anyway.
