Does anybody have any good advice or links to help a Noob set up for BF4 when i get the chance, just general advice really, i dont understand that much about AA and all the settings, how does reducing screen size 1920x1080 improve things...All sorts :D
Many thanks.
I'm using a msi hd7850 2gb standard.

low everything mesh ultra that is all you need to know :D you will drop below 60 fps with that card so maybe time to save for upgrade.

What cpu are you using.

It would also be hard to give any advise on the game as it aint released yet an it should perform/handle different from the beta.

I ran the beta on ultra with w7 an i had micro stutter quite often, but soon as i jumped to w8-8.1 it fixed that problem.

With this game there could be many different things to try but untill retail comes its all speculation.

I would wait till it drops first.

If the release runs better than the Beta then you'll be fine with a 2GB 7850 (at 1920x1080).

I averaged around 50fps on high settings on the Beta (after all the patches) with the same card. Setting everything to medium wouldn't bother me either. It still looked great.

What CPU have you got?

MSI HD 7850 OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards
AMD Piledriver FX-6 Six Core 6300 Black Edition 3.50GHz (Socket AM3+) Processor
Gigabyte 990XA-UD3 AMD 990X (Socket AM3+) DDR3
All standard, i bought the DD BF4 so played the Beta too, with a bit of messing about i had 60fps stable on Win7x64 and between 60-90fps on Win8, that was messing about with the Beta amd drivers v1+v2, the 3 DIce updates also (3rd never made any difference i could see), and changing priorities in task manager for bf4 to low, helped stop the 90% cpu usage as did turning off 3 cores. I was on the Beta forums as fungusdread.
Thanks for the advice, i never knew about meshing and the links just what i need :D
How about this BF3 app that alters the in-game graphics settings and purdies it up a bit, i heard that increases your FPS,but is it usable on BF4 do you think?
I know its all guesswork mostly, but you know :D

Exactly the same as me.

You'll be fine at 1920x1080 with mostly high settings with maybe a few mediums thrown in. I may well go all medium with a few settings on high to make sure of getting an average of 60+fps.

Id update the cpu and mobo if any thing,i sold my old Sapphire 7850 an it ran BF4 fine.

But that only if your after a upgrade for performance.

Thats what i'm after 60fps, the tellies only 60hz anyway although ccc has decided it'll go to 75hz and who am i to argue :D
I'm hoping there'll be a few cheap 7850's around after xmas with these new fangled amd cards coming out today r7 or whatever, also Mantles out in December and that sounds good, works on our cards also i think the 7xxx series? But i think i might be going for this crossfire stuff next year, and some of this water cooling also, it's cheap reconditioned and i think OC does it.
Hehe, i only bought this setup 4 months ago from here :D

This is how some people play. Not me. I like BF all pretty and stuff... ;)
Same here, like to get what i paid for out of my system. The beta ran surprisingly well for me on my dated 670's, averaging 80fps on ultra, x2 msaa at 1920x1200.

Do bf games have a single player part.:D

Tbh, ive barely played more than 2-3 mins of sp in bfbc2 and bf3.

I did do the single player game on BF3, can't remember much about it though, there's a part where you have to snipe some street-lights...or that's another game, anyway, i ran through it to get the weapon unlock, i can't remember what that was though, or was that the Co-op.....
Got it, M417 unlocked with the BF3 Co-op, excellent gun that shame they ruined it with suppression.

If you want to have a competitive edge and maximize fps turn everything low, makes a huge difference.

If you don't really care, then try turning everything to high (don't bother with shadows or AA as that will be some of the biggest performance hits)
