Getting Ebay negative feedback removed

I am at fault, no doubt.

I listed something easily worth £125, expecting maybe £100. Didn't set a reserve. Item ended at £2 for some reason. So I sent a message saying I wasn't willing to let the item go for £2 and apologised to the winning bidder for wasting their time and that we could sort something out as I expected it to make much more. I didn't get a response and they just left negative feedback for refusing to sell the item.

I have been on ebay since 2001 with over 1k 100% feedback since day one, I've sold multiple high value items both here and abroad and never had a single problem.

I can understand them being miffed but I did offer to resolve this somehow without getting a response.

id leave you a negative.
Suck it up.
Is it the end of the world?
Anyone with half a brain will be able to read your reply.

Seems like a wholly justified use of negative feedback, both parties enter a contract you broke it the end.

I thought the done thing was trying to resolve issues before leaving negative feedback, obviously not.

well the only way it could be resolved in the eyes of the buyer is that you sell it to him for the £2 that he won the item for...
as you told him you wouldnt sell it to him for £2 then case closed

There's issues and there is refusing to sell it at the price the buyer won at, unless you were going to sell it for £2 then that's not an issue that can be resolved.

Can this be done as a seller? I've never had any so thought I'd ask here.

Only if it infringes eBay's rules in some way, otherwise no. One idiot was trying it on with me, I ignored his request he threw his rattle out of the pram and left some obscene comments in negative feedback, I reported it for offensive language, removed.

I used to sell quite a few items on eBay and there were times when I look back knowing I sold items well below their true value. If only I had held on to them. :o However there were items which I profited so it balanced out (sort of). Like many say, it's the risk you have to take.

Last month I purchased an item from a seller in the USA, I think it went for $1.00. I was gobsmacked when they honoured the sale as the item turned up!

If they had declined and been upfront I would have understood (would have been miffed though). Not sure it would have been to the extent of leaving a Negative.

With so much positive feedback I’m sure that negative wouldn’t mean a thing to anyone. Certainly wouldn’t to me.

Agree, its all in context. I rarely read feedback; usually take a look if under 98-97%. Lower than this I would likely give a miss unless a power seller.
