What internet speed do you have? Power lines work but are slow and crossing ring mains will probably be an issue.

What router are you using?

I have a virgin hub 5 and pay for 125mb/s

The problem is there about a fair away from each other as they can be

Powerline adaptors can work, but the speed can be highly variable depending on wiring layout. As you've said, if your upstairs sockets and downstairs sockets are on different rings then it might be slow, or potentially not work at all given there's no physical link between the two rings. You could use a Wi-Fi mesh system, some of them have options to connect to them via an Ethernet Port. The other option is run an Ethernet cable to the closest socket on the same ring as the PC and then use your powerline adaptor. This might even be a cable run upstairs to the closest socket.

im really wanting to avoid running cables outside the house if i can or i would just go up and over then into the room needed.

can this be done without running cables all over the house?
Yes, they'll need a base station close to your Router then the devices all link to each other. The issue then becomes how many do you need to maintain signal throughout the house and then finding one with an Ethernet Port. They're not particularly cheap either: https://amzn.eu/d/0d0bcPk0

Do you have any other virgin points in the house? I moved my router from downstairs to upstairs in my last house as it was virgin and could just connect it to the wall upstairs

If you are out of contract it might be worth contacting virgin or even if you are ein contract as they do WiFi pods so there are no dead spots in the house.

They are just WiFi extenders but at least they will work with your router no problem

just the only been with them 2 months. i had BT sockets in ever room but removed them and plastered, now im seeing you can make them carry Ethernet....

Coax MoCA is an excellent shout especially if you have ports in most rooms. You can get Gigabit but I'd be tempted by 2.5 GbE as you get future proofing and whilst you only have 100 Mbps or so internet, they'd be useful for local speeds.

its more just not wanting a cable going over the house to get from front to back.
if its the only option then i will just wanted to see what the other options are

Easy enough to run cables, dead cheap and once in place it's fine. Put around skirting board, then either ceiling or skirting board up the stairs. To do 3 rooms cost about £30 and couple of hours at the most. Under carpet runners or in the gap under the door. Push in the gap between skirting board/carpet.

Living room to master bedroom
Then master bedroom to second bedroom

Then couple of quid with nail clips
