getting ethernet upstairs without running cables

The loft was converted into a bedroom the week I got the house. The cable would have to literally go over the roof.
But I do think the power in the loft come off the upstairs ring so I could indeed go in there the use the power adapters

Check the loft mains supply isn't run off the lighting circuit as that is bodge job that some cowboys might do.

Only done that myself for a nuair PIV, which is fine but added a socket (that will only be used for low powered devices like a portable work lamp)

saw a youtube video recently of a guy running tiny thin flexible fibre optic cable. Pretty much invisible if run along skirting/ door frames. But it was pricey. Comments suggested alternative sources that were much cheaper.

Buy some powerline adapters where you can return them easily or buy second hand ones. Test. Might be fine. I get over 200mbps from two sockets in the house which I think are on the same circuit. They even work across circuits for me in my house up to about 80mbps I think I measured roughly. Might be enough for you. It's literally plug and play. People tend to shy away from them due to mixed results.

I am running MOCA at home. using x2 GoCoax MoCA 2.5 adapters, around £75 when i got them, if chosing today might get a differnet set that does the tv cable out on the box instead of using a splitter beforehand. make sure that you get an MoCA filter for the arial end so that you dont start broadcasting as well. If your TV Coax go into a box, will also need the box to have the correct freguencys.

I have been running for a few years with a 900mb package and its been working great, much better then the Powerwall adapters i had before.
