I just phoned up Virgin, and apparently we're getting Large TV and 10mb broadband for £35 a month, I said

"wtf, we have 20mb."

"No sir, you downgraded to 10mb last June"

So I ask my dad and it's true

I asked in that case for a discount and it's now £31 a month.

But I just ran a speed test and it came out as 17mb :D:D:D. So much for 10mb broadband! Or is there any reason why that speed test would have come out higher?

Speedtests are really inaccurate...

I Had 20mb installed today...

here are my results:

The best way to tell is by the upload speed.

For 10meg, your upload speed will be ~0.48
For 20meg, your upload speed will be ~0.71

Yeah, if your upload is 0.7 then you have 20mb...

Got to http://192.168.100.1/

and find where it says "downstream"

It should be something like this:

Cable Modem Operation Configuration
Network Access : Allowed
Maximum Downstream Data Rate : 20480000
Maximum Upstream Data Rate : 768000
Maximum Upstream Channel Burst : 1600
Maximum Number of CPEs : 1
Modem Capability : Concatenation Enabled, Fragametation Enabled, PHS Disabled

Last result from laptop.

Heres the desktops results:

There's something not quite right about that download speed....

VERY WEIRD, Why am I paying for 10mb.

I think I'd better keep quiet ;)

When I changed from 20Mb down to 10Mb it took them over 4 months to actually reduce my speed. Enjoy while you can :D

When I went from 2 to 10 I was getting 10Mb speeds at 2Mb price for months. They then realised and put me back on 2Mb so I logged back into my online account and upgraded again and the same happened lol

I rang up to ask for the virgin netbook, and the first thing the bloke said to me was, do you know you can get 20Mb connection for £5 less . . . .

I didnt think for very long! What I dont understand, is I only have the basic phone package with them too!
