Getting fed up of this problem that has been going on for months...

I've been having a major issue for months now which I'm really fed up with and would appreciate as much help as possible to resolve this.

My screen goes black and my monitor states "no signal" Sometimes it displays "Display Driver Stopped Responding and has Recovered". If it doesn't recover, which is most of the time, I have to restart my computer, but when I try starting it back up my monitor doesn't pick up the signal unless I wait 15 minutes before booting.

This issue usually occurs after using the PC for around an hour, whether it be browsing the Internet or doing nothing at all. However, any time I click on any setup file, the screen goes a slightly darker colour (which is normal) and the "would you like to run this file - yes or no" message appears for a split second and it again displays "no signal". The only thing I can then do is switch the PC off and wait 15 mins.

As you can imagine, this has been driving me nuts to the point where I'm seriously considering buying a new PC as I've tried so much to get it working again to no avail.

Things I've tried:

- Updating existing drivers
- Updating BIOS
- Running a RAM memory check (which came out fine)
- INSTALLING a new graphics card (previously AMD, now have a GTX285 but same problem :( )
- Tried a new HDMI cable

Please somebody HELP!!!!!

So as you can see, it's not too bad of a machine and I don't really want to buy a new PC.
 
Can you download realtemp and GPU-Z which will help you monitor cpu and gfx card temps.

Is anything overclocked? if so set it all back to stock.

Edit...make that core temp as I remember that realtemp and AMD CPU's dont work.

OK, please bear with me because as soon as I run the setup file for any of these programs, it's going to display "no signal" and I'll have to wait 15 mins before I can start the PC up again...

However, if I click on the setup file within 5mins of starting the PC, it should allow me to run it without displaying the "no signal" message.
 
OK, so just ran the setup file for Core Temp and, as predicted, the PC showed "no signal" and I've had to power it down. (I'm currently using my crappy laptop to type this message as I have to wait 15 mins before powering the PC back on

PS - when I purchased the PC originally, I think it was previously overclocked but I'm not sure if it is anymore. I don't know how to overclock and don't even know which setting to check to see if it's overclocked

Just tried switching the PC on again but it displays "no signal". Looks like I didn't wait long enough before switching it back on...

Seriously, this is what I've been putting up with for the past 4-5 months and it's REALLY FRUSTRATING :mad:
 
Ok.

Can you remove all the stuff you dont need to boot up with.

So use a single stick of RAM, any extra drives apart from the one holding the OS

Ditch the soud card etc.
 
OK, I've just removed all extra drives, sound card, wireless card and left just 1 stick of RAM. The PC is up and running but it would have come back to this state anyway as it has been over 15mins since it was last switched off.

Is there anything you want me to try now?
 
When I fired the PC up, I realised 1 of the additional drives was still connected. I shut the PC down and removed the additional drive and started the PC again. A message appeared stating "you have 3 days to activate Windows???"

Anyway, I'm still getting the "no signal problem even now :(

EDIT: I immediately rebooted the PC after the previous "no signal" message and it has started up fine (previously had to wait 15 mins before it would come on properly).

I'll test it further by runing a setup file shortly

Right then so thats ruled out a lot of parts and you have tried two GFX cards.

So its either PSU, cpu, board then.

Can you borrow and good quality PSU from someone?

Try a re-install using the latest drivers and updates. Also try flashing the boards BIOS to a newer version but if it is overclocked and you bought it like that then it will wipe all settings and any saved overclock profiles that may exist in the BIOS.
 
I've already previously tried a complete re-install and updated with latest drivers. Unortunately I don't know anyone with another power supply.

Somebody mentioned it could possibly have something to do with voltage settings? However, I don't know what settings I should be using in the BIOS

However, I had to sell it on and subsequently purchased my current system which was running fine up until a few months ago. Unfortunately I just can't afford to buy a new system at present hence the reason I'm trying to get this to work

Well if the system is running at stock then to be honest your voltage settings etc in the BIOS should just be on auto etc.
