My friends pay £80 a month for gym membership which includes the use of all of the facilities including the gym, squash courts, swimming pool etc. I don't want to pay £80 a month.

In fact I want to spend a one time investment of £100 for equipment to get fit.

For £100 can I buy dumbells, multi-gym, exercise ball and an exercise mat? What do you recommend I should spend £100 on to get fit?

Sorry - by getting fit I mean can I, for £100 buy equipment to use at home which would get me into shape as if I were going to the gym?

By getting into shape I mean building muscle. E.g biceps, triceps, abdomen, etc.

I can add £50 or so on top of the original budget, i.e. £150 or so.

Is a 2nd hand entry level multi gym what I need? (I have a spare room for this).

Just remember - I'm a beginner. I don't mind paying £100 or £150 for brand new or second hand entry level stuff, which I might outgrow in 6 months or a year. However I want to start small and then go large. I don't want to go large straight away (e.g. spend £1000 on gym equipment).

Thanks.

I can afford gym equipment. I can spend £500, or more for equipment. The factor stopping me is if I will actually use it.

Hence why I want to cheap out - if I stop using the equipment for what ever reason then I won't be bummed - loosing out on £100 is better than loosing out on £500.

I obviously want to get fit - but need to find the time to do so. Hence why I want the gym equipment at home so I can exercise when I want.
