Can you be sure it was a car and not an oncoming goose?
Is your car clean? Someone hasn’t scraped “Beep at me if you think I’m a ****” on the bonnet have they?![]()
Just got back from India where honking is used regularly, but to alert other drivers of your presence I.e. before overtaking
IIRC this is supposed to be the correct use here in the UK too, not for road rage which is mainly the reason for honking
Personally only honk if someone is going to reverse into my car, or there's a blind corner or something . Again this is the correct use according to the highway code IIRC
Rule 112 - Highway Code
A horn should only be used when warning someone of any danger due to another vehicle or any other kind of danger, and not to indicate your annoyance.
It is illegal to use a horn on a moving vehicle on a restricted road, basically a road that has street lights and a 30 mph limit, between the times of 11:30 p.m. and 07:00 a.m.
I sometimes use the horn when going over a blind narrow bridge, that isn't traffic light controlled.Just got back from India where honking is used regularly, but to alert other drivers of your presence I.e. before overtaking
