I did my build (i2500k @ 4.5g 1.3v, MSI P67A GD65, Elite 430 - Front intake and side intake, top exhaust Apache's) a few weeks ago now, but my temps with the Freezer Pro Rev 2 were in the mid 70's under Prime95, so I went for the H50 (Apache fans push/pull) and my temps went to under 60 after 5 hours of Prime95, well happy.

Now the temps are rising in my flat, which does get uncomfortably hot in Summer, my idle temps are in the early to mid 30's and the cores went from 61 (core 1) to 68 (core 3) (which seems too much of a difference to me) under 20 minutes of Prime95, making me think they would easily go over 70 after a few hours.

Are these temps ok, or should I just bite the bullet, sell the H50 and get the Silver Arrow, if it fits the mobo and case, as I had trouble with a Fenrir hitting the mobo SFC fitting. Also, would applying some AS5 make a difference, as I'm just using the applied paste that come with the H50?

my i7-920 has sat for 3 years at around 70º so I would think you'll be OK - I find in the summer that I have to clock my CPU back form 4GHz or it will hit 80º

Or you could bite the bullet and get air conditioning. Bought my heat pump a few years ago and am currently sitting at 18'c despite being over 26 outside :) Will actually cool the place to 16 but that's too chilly for me.

It's cheaper in the long run to hire two servants to fan you all day. :p

Even more tempting, with the Silver Arrow deal, especially after I hit 72 after seven minutes of Prime.:)
