Paranoier kicks in..

Was driving along as you do with the stereo loud. I notice a police car behind on alert getting through. A pull left to get out of its way and I notice he shouts something. Most probably get out of my way.

Could I get in trouble at all? :o

Unfortunately not.
Have to say that drivers that don't help the police are one of my pet dislikes on the road. Can I suggest that you don't deafen yourself in future and be a little more polite to the boys in blue.

He or she was politely telling you to pay attention when on the road. If the blues and twos are on, they need to get somewhere in a hurry. You won't get into trouble or get a visit so don't get flustered over it.

I agree entirely with Mr Sukebe.

I had this happen to me about 4 years ago, I was going up the A3 with the stereo loud and didn't notice the police come up right behind me - I was doing 80-85 ish. He was right up behind me to the extent that all I could see the the rear view mirror was the two front seat passengers. If they'd have dropped back a bit i would have probably seen the blue light on the front of the car and on the roof, but with them being so close to me, I'd estimate within a foot of the rear of my car, I didn't have a chance to see the flashing of the lights. Also he couldn't have been there for more than 10-15 seconds either as I do check the rear view mirror often, and I'd only pulled out to overtake a line of 6 cars in the middle lane anyway.

I just chalked it up to experience, I didn't hear anything about it although I was half expecting a letter through the post about it.

It was a good tune though :D

I know there's a joke in there but they can't do it.

Watched a police car last Friday come flying up a main road, which was not busy at the time, from the police station a few hundrer yards away with it's lights and siren going only to pull in at a petrol station to fill up. I was stationary at the bottom of a side street gawping in disbelief.

Well most cars have a black box recorder of sorts which can link to times and dates in that at such a time, was a priority job shouted and does that time and date in which the car was blue lighting it link to the priority job ?

Maybe the car you mention got a call then was stood down but then again maybe not. Maybe there was a shout at the petrol station, a drive off or something ? I don't know.

If it wasn't a job and only done for no reason than to blat it to fill up then the officer should be shot with **** !

In a car you need to be able to see and hear things - if you can't hear a police siren behind you, god knows how you'd hear a car horn in an emergency, let alone a cry of "stop" should one come :(

Its like people that complain of being caught by speed cameras - if you can't see a bright yellow, glow in the dark, luminescant square on a stick in an environment where nothing else is that colour, then I would seriously question your powers of observation. :(

Some of those bright yellow, glow in the dark, luminescant squares on a stick are hid behind signs around these parts. Just like the big white vans of radar death that are hid around blind corners waiting for the unsuspecting.

Or perhaps he was the only unit available to attend a call but needed to fill up to get there...

Unless you drive a swiss cheese rusted ford fiesta i would be surprised if you could here anything even with the engine idling. Also, if somebody shouted 'stop' its probably already too late by then!

Riding a bike both senses are valuable, however driving? Rubbish.

true
they would have banned stereos in cars years ago if you need your ears.

You need to get your hearing checked.
