Ok so I recently (well, this evening) got one of those bt home hubs and the bt vision boxes form BT because well, they're free if you use their broadband and I figured it would be handy to be able to record TV when I wanted to, as I'd already bought one of those USB TV sticks that you plug into the computer but it was cheap and I never got a signal.
Annnnyway, so they came today, and the home hub works fine, I mean I don't use the wireless for anythin except my zune but apparently the box that records TV that sits under your telly needs this hub to work so I just went along with it, no problems there.
So this box needs to communicate with the hub for updates on on demand stuff apparently and it doesn't have wireless (which I find a bit wierd, but hey) so it has to connect to the hub either directly via an ethernet port (which couldn't be done, as the TV's downstairs, the hub's upstairs with the PC), but BT anticipated this so they give you these two white plugs which plug into the mains and send the network signals down there, I'd heard of this sort of thing before but I still thought it was quite clever.
So after I'd set the box up and it had downloaded the new firmware using the hub (well, the modem within the hub, but who cares), everything was working fine and it was recording TV like it should.
However, when I went back up to use my computer, I found my wireless mouse and keyboard were stuttering all over the place, so I changed the batteries (because this is what usually happens when they run out of charge) but I still got that really annoying interferance. So I had a think and after a bit of stroking my chin
p) I tried unplugging the plug which goes into the mains to connect the bt vision box, and the mouse and keyboard worked fine again.
Now this has put me in an awkward position, because apparently the bt vision box needs this network connection to function (although I reckon it's only for the on demand stuff, which I don't even use because it ain't free
), but anytime i have it plugged in and I'm using the computer, I get this frustrating interferance (i'm using a wireless keyboard and mouse btw).
So basically, after that short novel, does anyone know anyway to stop this interferance form occuring? I mean is there some way I can shield the interferance given off by the plug or anything? And has anyone else ever experienced this?
Thanks for your time guys, sorry about the lengthy explanation
EDIT: These mains adaptor things are like these, but from what I can see they're made by a company called 'comtrend'
