I'd say Suicidal Tendencies & a Bit of Megadeth
Not sure about ST but oh yes Megadave!

The 2005 Greatest Hits album and United Abominations are most excellent.

Do not forget the Duke Nukem song either! :D

You may not have noticed, but As the Palaces Burn is by far their best album.

lol

Well I found Ashes Of The Wake easily as good as Sacrament, maybe I need to listen to the new one more, only listened to it through once.

haha Its going to take me a long time to have a listen to all these bands... good stuff! :D

Is anyone else like me where you have to listen to most metal songs quite a few times before you like them or notice how they stand out from other songs on the album etc? (obviously with some exceptions). :)

I can usually tell , but there are still plenty that grow on you.

Incubus?

Pushing the metal thing a bit, though if you like rage. :)

Morning View and Make Yourself are fantastic albums anyway, production values are phenomenal.

With Suicidal Tendencies you either love them or hate them, either reaction is good. If you love them you will be lost in a sea of noise & time will stand still. Perfect rage music.
With Megadeth there albums span across an age so you may hate one album but love another.
For me i listen to totally different kinds of music depending on my mood or whatever mood i am trying to get in or out of.
It is best not to catch me on a Metal day :p

By the way if you are gonna try Children Of Bodom I advise you to start with the albums Something Wild, Hatebreeder and Follow The Reaper.

Then you can try Hate Crew Deathroll and Are You Dead Yet? (The most recent two albums and they sucked royally, HCD has 1 or 2 exceptions though)

Nope. Irrespective of genre, if its good, it hits me straight away and the finer details are then revealed with repeat listens.

It is very rare for me to 'discover' something I like through repeated listening.

I've only got "are you dead yet" and thought it was a pretty solid album, I havent heard much of there old stuff, is it really that much better?

Tons better, much more heavy tone to it too.

Give these a shot:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ANmkyNvBMWg <--- Billy Idol cover, Alexi sings CLEAN!!
http://youtube.com/watch?v=YUOE9wYamfg <--- One of my favs.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=tjZpqgeiGFQ <--- Epic.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=hjZXUyvFQDA (This is from Hate Crew Deathroll, one of the exceptions)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=GmPQ89ahYao <--- Favourite song :D

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Follow_the_Reaper
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Something_Wild_(album)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatebreeder

First three albums were really good, Hate Crew was quite the letdown and AYDY was really bad, praying the new album is a return to roots.

no no no no!!! I'm afraid not!! The original is at least 3x better than the cover :p It's Kiske's voice you see... you CAN'T cover a Kiske era Helloween song because nothing can beat his voice....
