Getting iOS7 onto my iphone :)

More to the point, people just need to get used to it.. it sort of depresses me a little bit that so many people are so resistant to what is basically a cosmetic change, especially from something as stale as iOS6.

From my point of view, it's not being resistant to change – I'm quite happy for Apple to move to a flat-design UI – the issue is the way they've done it isn't very good.

You only have to look at the MASSIVE number of designers across the web that have redesigned iOS7 on Dribble, Behance, Forrst, Deviant Art etc… to see that the icons and UI could have been a lot less clunky and much better looking.

I updated my iphone 5 last night.

First impressions are that its good. I like most of the new features.

I find the transitions a bit jarring when switching apps etc, but i think thats just being used to how iOS1-6 did it conditioning to expect certain animations when hitting an app etc.

Only think i'm stuck on is updating the icloud T&Cs, just keep getting server unavailable - anyone else experiencing this? I'm assuming its hammered servers.

Also still stuck with one apple id (gmail) for app store and another apple id for icloud, which baffles me on facetime/imessage etc :S but thats a long standing issue which I suspect is my fault.

I do really like the background data updating though given I live in london and often forget to update apps like pocket/guardian before heading onto the tube.

Now the only decision is whether to upgrade to 5s.

It keep saying i do not have permission to update it on my iPhone 4.

Got it on my iPad, looks different but it's just the same ?

What is actually new behind the cosmetic change?

I'm not too keen on the new icons, they might grow on me. The animated zooming in and out is ok at the moment but might get tiresome after a while.

Installed ios7 last night on my iphone 5 and ipad around 5:55pm all installed after about half hour no issues
tried to do my daughters iPad mini about 6:20pm and it kept failing to update, did a full wipe and restore same issue.. eventually it went on and working great

i like the new ios, the iphone needed a new refresh in my opinion

Thats what annoys me most about the update it is 90% cosmetic and as far as I can see all the cosmetic changes are a step backwards. The icons are just horrible and the grey bar on the home screen just looks wrong. The supper kiddie icons make everything feel big and chunky rather than smooth and professional. The animations are just pointless, boring and slow the whole experience down and the new version of Safari is something I thought was impossible and that is a step backwards from the old version but still we are forced to use it.

I think it is best summed up by saying what would people be saying about this if it was a new skin released for android and the simple answer is they wouldn't be saying anything about it as it would be universally ignored.

I don't hate it, I'm not going to sell my phone but it just leaves me thinking why did they bother!

With last nights fiasco out the way I must say I'm really warming to it. Some very nice features/tweaks have been incorporated improving usability. Yep I think I like it.

Bar the "theme" the "cosmetic" changes incorporate a hell of a lot of functionality enhancement. I am surprised people are whinging about icons and animations instead of enjoying the improved functionality.

For some reason I can't open itunes store just crashes every time I open it, tried restarting my phone same thing.. anyone else have a problem with it?

They're semi-transparent on my iPhone4, like frosted glass. Maybe you need a better background?

There is no frosted anything. Flat. Solid. Ugly. Grey. "Soviet Russia" of IOSes. Darkest background they offer:

Does it Iook crapper on black devices as people speculated it would?

Looks terrible in places. Alarm clock. The font size is 3rd of the screen. Notes. They had beautiful, fantastic looking app that everyone loved. Now it's tiny grey Sans Serif font on white background with light orange menus. Unreadable. Honestly, with screen brightness app you it looks as flamboyantly "flah-ming" as Backstreet Boys in white uniforms walking around in circles, making Zoolander faces and waving hands on mid late nineties MTV video. How they didn't supply choice of dark scheme and light scheme from scratch I will never know.

Well, good news is, we'll never need torches again, the icons are so bright you just need to switch to home screen to light up your way to the door. Bad news is, together with the "enhancements" comes diabolical step backs. With upper and lower flip menus, the mid point is so narrow, I've been pulling up toggle screen in Flipboard all morning. Mid flip down for spotlight would be nice, if flip sideways was actually used for something useful, otherwise you just made it more difficult, I have 1cm flip down space on 4S instead of 5cm flip sideways space to execute it. Menus animate nicely but are slower now to do anything. Safari is practically unusable with all the space hogging and crazy close tab windows vista thing, close app in double tap is gone, just mess, mess, mess everywhere.

If I could use the enhanced functionality without seeing the nasty cosmetic changes then I'm sure I would appreciate them more not that most make any real difference to me! I just wish it looked nice instead of like a kiddie phone from toys r us.

It definitely does come from Fisher Price design book. I'm not sure I would fork out 500 quid plus for this plus plastic iphone when choosing new device.

Anyone else have problems with time zone setting? Both my iPhone 5's think I'm in the US and refuse to automatically adjust to UK time, had to set the time zone manually.

iPhone 4 isn't powerful enough for this IMO, glad it's not my main device as it's pretty painful otherwise.

Like the update in general, not impressed however by the fact each folder can only show 9 apps at once, even if you can have multiple "pages" within a folder.

Worth updating on my mum's ipad mini?

Seems fine on my Ipad 4 and Iphone 4S but slightly worried that the mini won't have enough grunt.

I'd say so, my mini has been fine with the betas and now with the official.

All this fisher price criticism... yawn! Such a bull**** bandwagon.
