Had a look at doing this and saw an app called Fluke which appears to be Mac only. Does anyone know a way to get iTunes to recognise them in the library without having to convert?

Muchas gracias!

Got any ideas?

nope. i've never owned a smartphone or tablet so it's not something i've ever looked in to. :o

i know you said this but if you have apple hardware, it makes perfect sense use apple lossless. obviously the converted files should be bit perfect (identical). you can always convert back to flac at a later date if your needs change.

the easiest way to convert the whole lot at once would be using the trial of dbpoweramp. it should transfer all your tags/artwork as well.

Have a look at MediaMonkey.

I've used it in the past and it's a decent iTunes/Winamp alternative. I've not used it to do what you're after but a quick google seems to point to it being doable, certainly seems to have methods for using an iPad as a remote.
