well i thought i was one of the lucky ones with a flawless 360, but 2 weeks ago i started getting the "To play this game, please insert it in a xbox 360 console" warning when i inserted a game. It started as only happening occasionally but has got gradually worse. Today it refuses to play any of my games

anyway i've phoned the shop i got it from and they said they would swap it no problem, i can also keep my hard drive ! yay :)

just had to get it of my chest as my 2 year old daughter doesn't seem that interested lol

EDIT: bought the 360 on the 3rd/9/2006

Thankfully, returning it to a high street shop is nice and easy.

What, your 2yr old wasn't interested? How dare she?!? I blame the parents!

I'm praying at the mo' that mine doesn't die on me. I get the occasional 'Cannot read disk' and yesterday I noticed some tiny artifacts whilst playing Oblivion :(.

Sounds like pretty good service, if I had the same problem I can be sure it wouldn't be that easy for me :).

yeah good service from the shop, can't complain. will be taking it back in about an hour. looking forward to a spanking new wireless controller :) the old one has a few rattley bits inside since it's been chucked a few times hehe

i hope mine doesnt die on me because i've upgraded the firmware on it and the warrenty stickers gone, i dont wann ahave to buy a new 1 and do a swap trick again..... :D
It's people like you that make it harder for the rest of us when we genuinely have a problem a deserve to get a replacement. Shops get stung by people pulling those kinds of stunts and then they become over cautious and don't want to replace consoles

I hope you get caught out I really do.

well just got back with my new 360, they just swapped over the console itself, so i have the same controller/box etc.

tested it and all is fine, keeping fingers crossed that this one lasts longer.

noticed the the dvd drive on the new one is quite a bit quieter :)

well it appears that my new 360 has borked 2 of my games !

both discs have a half inch crack running from the hole of the disc out towards the outside edge. one seems to play fine but the other gives a disc read error at the same point each time.

what do you think the chances are of me getting the games replaced by the shop or microsoft ?

will be phoning them in the morning anyway, just wondering if any of you guys have had a similar prob ??

not amused

Are you sure that they weren't there as a result of your first console. The disc errors may have been due to the first one cracking your discs.

The crack may have just got larger in the new player.

They will replace your discs, a few people have had this problem.

positive it wasnt the last 360 as i got errors on all my games with it. with it playing up i had checked my discs thoroughly and they were fine.

sorry but I was referring to replacing the DVD-ROM using the drive key, not swapping the whole machine in store, i havnt got the balls to do that, sorry if I was unclear about this, my 360 was messing up my disks and my friend said it was the dvd rom, i thought it was a pretty good achievement for me to do the drive swap being as I’m not the best at this type of thing

I phoned MS up on the 28th of December. Still awaiting my 4th console.

Phoned them up yesterday, they said up to a week.... *****
