I actually want to get this sorted before I even spend a penny on any fans since I don't want to mess things up.
Ever since I embarked on my little project to turn a cheap refurbished pre-build PC into a decent gaming system I wanted the end product to have some flair with some LED fans (since cooling can't be done passively with a GPU blowing hot air towards the bottom of the case and cooking the hard drives in the process), and now that I've finally gotten the case (kolink refractor that comes with garbage molex powered LED fans) that it will end up in there's just the matter of the fans.
I had originally decided on getting Bitfenix Spectre Pros since they were available in sets of three for around £23 which would make up the bulk of the initial colour setup until I purchase the remaining fans, but after looking through the available 120mm fans I have been considering what I should actually get since there's an Xtreme variant of the Bitfenix spectre line (which seemed to be absent from the LED fans section even though OCUK only stocks the LED variants) which run at a higher max RPM which has me pondering a question.
Should all the fans be of around the same max RPM or does it only matter what task it is doing (that being intake or exhaust)?
My plan thus far is to purchase one fan to replace the rear stock fan which will act as an exhaust (that depends on if the two front stock fans have been configured for intake which might be a pain to check since they're screwed to the hard drive cages, and I'll most likely have to remove them to get at the fans) and then fill the remaining gaps (and replace the remaining stock fans) with other fans as I can get them making the two front (and possibly bottom between the PSU and hard drive cages) as the intake (probably using spectre pros) and the rear and top as exhaust (probably spectre Xtreme or some other higher speed fans depending on if higher RPM on the exhaust fans won't cause any pressure issues or whatnot).
The fans will be connected to a lamptron FC2 fan controller which is probably going to make and of the issues I've thought about moot since I can just adjust the speed of the fans (but that won't be until I've gotten all the fans since the initial setup will have the only fan that has an actual fan header connection connected to the only three pin fan harder on the motherboard) to suit what is required.
