Hi guys i know this kinda thing prob been posted many times but..
I have been all over the net reading varying opinions regarding x gpu vs x gpu.
From what i have gathered upgrading from my current 8800gt sli setup to 1 5850 wouldnt see much gains according to some sites. :( My monitor is 26" with 60hz and 1920x1080 max capability.Would this hinder either of the 58xx cards? What i mean is would i see the max benefit from these at such resoution and refresh cap? I would gladly go for the 5870 if i know that it will be able to use full potential ;)
Sorry if this kinda thing been heard b4 but so many different opinions on so many sites have just confused the hell out of me now !

tbh best to wait and see if fermi is any better then make your decision, does your main 8800gt have 1gb mem? also 5850/70 has many advantages including directx11 single card, pre-alpha drivers and 3 monitor setup.
Performance wise id say u should get an extra 30% in the future. if you go cf more than 200% increase id imagine

both cards are 512mb,is it right that this is only treated as 512mb for both and not added together?

I have just upgraded from a single 8800gt to a 5850 and I do get a huge FPS boost in some games - however since the games I usually play ran well before I don't really notice much of a difference.

I bought mine when the prices were low, but now I would recommend waiting until you Need to upgrade as it isn't really a good time to buy graphics cards (supply shortage + Christmas).

Edit: I am using a 23" monitor @ 2048x1152
