Im after 2 cards for 2 different computers, one mine and one is my sons.

I was looking at getting a HD 7950 and a 7850 but then started looking at the 660ti and 660.

If I went for the 2 AMD cards id save about £20 but would also get a couple of copies of Nexuiz & Sleeping Dogs and a copy of CODMW2.

Ive looked at many many reviews for the 7950 vs 660ti and 7850 vs 660 but the more i look the harder it becomes to make my mind up :)

Come on guys give me your thoughts on which 2 cards I should go for.

I'd go for the 7950 over the 660ti due to its superior overclocking performance. The 660ti is also over priced - which in actual fact is my main reason for me suggesting the AMD card, as there's no guarantee of reaching a good overclock.

With regards to the 660 or 7850, at stock iirc, the 660 is a bit faster, though I can't recall how well the 660 overclocks. I'd still be inclined to bet that the 7850 would be more likely to clock further.

+1

But if the 660ti was £30 cheaper than the 7950, what would your choice be then.

As far as I'm aware, the 660ti isn't likely to overclock as far as the 7950 (anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). Assuming that's right, I'd probably still go for the 7950 if I had to make a choice between the two cards, even if the 660ti was thirty notes cheaper. My reasoning for that is simply the general overclocking capability of the 7000 series is their best selling point, and that gives them quite a strong advantage.

Fairly often in the past, when looking at a review of some factory overclocked cards, I found myself not to be impressed with the trade off between a substantial amount of extra expense over, in some cases, a none too special cooler and a few fps at the most. This time, though, the benefits are clearly greater than is usually seen. So, if it holds true that a 660ti wouldn't on average overclock as well as a 7950, then despite the £30 difference, I more than likely would still opt for the Radeon.

Though, if to be totally honest, ideally if I was buying a new gpu now, I'd buy one from each team. I'd return the poorer performer out of the two under dsr, though I appreciate that wouldn't necessarily appeal to everyone for obvious reasons.
