Getting new build working. Help please.

I've just built the following, largely as a gaming machine for my son: -

i5-3570K
Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express
Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Corsair Builder Series CX 430W V2 '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply

Cooler Master Hyper 612S CPU Cooler (Socket LGA1366/1156/1155/775/AM3/AM2+/AM2)
Samsung Green (MV-3V4G3DUS) 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz 30nm Dual Channel RAM
WD Scorpio Black 350GB 7200rpm SATA HDD
Samsung 830 64GB SSD

This is the first machine I've ever built and I am a bit nervous about getting it wrong.

I'm aware that there are no drivers installed and, although the WD HDD (which came out of another machine) has Windows 7 installed, it won't boot the new computer.

Now that the machine is together, what is the next stage in getting it working? I would like to have the OS and drivers etc on the Samsung SSD and use the WD HDD for everything else.

I'm a total novice guys. Never done this before. I have a OEM copy of Windows 7. How do I load it onto the SSD?

then when windows is installed go to disk management and format the WD HDD to be used as the secondary hdd.

Is your copy of Windows on DVD? If so, do you have a DVD drive connected to the setup, and is it recognised in BIOS on booting up?

Windows 7 is on CD and yes there is a CD/DVD R drive. Is is just a case of starting up the new machine, putting the OS CD in and it should tell me what to do from there?
When I tried booting up on the WD HDD the other day the screen registered nothing at all.

Yes, it should just be a case of inserting the disc into the optical drive and then selecting which storage device you want to load the OS to - i.e. the SSD in this case. So, does anything happen at all when you turn your computer on? Does it mention that there is no operating system present when you boot it up without putting the OS disc in?

Option 1: Put disk in tray, start computer , If the computer says something along the lines of "Press any key to boot from CD..." , press a button and follow the simple onscreen instructions

Option 2: If no message comes up (and the computer definitely boots/turns on) Enter your BIOS normally done by spamming the DEL key or whatever key it tells you on screen to enter the settings. Once in your bios you need to find something named like Boot options/Start up options, This will likely give you a screen where you can easily switch the Boot Order so that in the no1 space your CD Drive is selected, Exit and save. The machine should reboot and apon doing so will load the install CD...Follow the onscreen instructions.

I would highly recommend doing this with ONLY the SSD in the machine, then reformatting the normal HD at a later time
edit: just noticed you tried with the HDD in before, remove that, keep just the SSD in the pc and install to that first.
