Hi im getting a much updated pc next month and is just for gaming and VR, basic`s are i9 9900, with evga 2080ti xc ultra 11gb card, with motherboard asus rog maximus extreme xi, all other components are hi fast end.

Im looking for 4k monitor or TV. Ive looked at quite a few and so many to choose from I am lost and not sure what would be best to go for.
screen size anything around 22" to 32". This is where I get lost lol, 1080p, 1440p i think is 2k?, 2160p is 4k?
also looking for maximum fps vs Hz, this is alien to me, as far as I know I can set my TV as its set for 1080p to either 60hz or 75hz. I have all games set on ultra settings, yet the FPS is at the Hz set on the TV either 60fps or currently 75fps. So I need a monitor/tv that can unlock the full potential of the GFX card.

Also on the video card sockets what are the best ones to use for full potential use i.e HD, fps, video settings? Again this is all alien to me. My current pc has 4 hdmi slots, im using 1 atm on TV, and also has the modern version of the vga socket. I read some where and only quickly, I read "for dvd use use the hdmi port. And for HD gaming use the vga port". Can anyone shed some light on this?
Thanks for any help.

That PC isn't any high end with standard level 8 core CPU on dead end platform with (extremely overpriced as new) motherboard not having high real value... And also graphics card being old gen.
So don't pay any luxury prices from it.

And for gaming use you'll want 100+ Hz refresh rate.
Unlike in CRTs lowering resolution doesn't increase refresh rate and you'll need panel capable to that high refresh rate at native resolution.
(regardless if you use lower resolution with scaling)

Not sure if there are much such TVs.
Also unless there's DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC or HDMI 2.1 you'll be stuck with very lossy chroma subsampling.

As EsaT said, those specs aren't really high end. They're good quality and should last you awhile but yes, don't go spending big money on it - nor on the monitor to use it with!

As to your request, the dillema is as following: for TV you want 4k. For fast gaming, you want at least 100Hz. Both on a monitor cost a fortune so you may have to choose which one you prioritize the most. To me, I find the happy middle ground to be the UWQHD 3440x1440 monitors that can commonly be found with 100-144Hz, for values that go from 300 to 500 quid, if that's within your budget. You lose 4k but get some nice real estate for TV watching anyway plus the Ultrawide view on games.

Your new card should have a DP connector, and that's what you should use with a new monitor.

Thanks for info. Its much higher spec than I have now. Im going up from a 3rd gen i7, 1060 6gb card, 32gb ram. New system im getting is about 15 months old, got the receipt at 3,200 new. Im getting it for 1,800 with warranty on components. I have had a look at new, but way more than I can afford in budget, I just need a good end monitor

VA with its best contrast is the best LCD type if you like dark room.
But pretty much every VA has challenges in response times.
And that one is very mediocre even for VA with with overall very mediocre transitions, or both still slow dark transitions and overshoot in middle shades.

That causes so called VA "black smear":

If you use normal room lightning that price level would have IPS monitors with lot more consistent response times.

Though that last one has nuts "panel upside down" BGR subpixel layout, which can cause text clarity issues:

Thanks for the info. Yea I read the info on the Gigabyte, it says "it isn't well-suited for dark rooms because it has a low contrast ratio that makes blacks appear gray" (I had this on my old monitor, and after switching to a spare TV, (using a cheep ALBA). In light and dark room makes the black look black, after running Elite Dangerous on it, the color was so vibrant the blackness of space just blew me away). So I want a monitor that does the job im paying for. So many to choose dont know what is the best mid range to go for (£350 give or take £50). Guess just keep looking.
