getting old and broken

so is vegan protein powder 'cheap' vs nuts ? (40g protein £3 ! )

looked up the protein&age thing
Evidence suggests that seeing the minimum of 1g per kg of weight a good starting point for people as they age.

However, even if you want to aim for the lower .75g per kg that might be harder than you think with studies highlighting that older people are struggling to reach the minimum amounts to begin with.
so for me that should be 250g of chicken/day
but for running regularly ~1.5g .. so that's ~350g / day

......

erg/rowing machine is good in front of the tv, and easily moveable - tunturi one, I had, was very quiet (nylon wrapped cord) but newer is chain driven

I am turning 40 next year, that sounds old to me, but still do not feel different than i did when i was 18. I have never smoked, and never drank. i Also lift weights 6 days a week. I still keep thinking that its going to happen, wake up one day and it hit me, but as of yet im still not yet broken.

Ah I am not sure, I have nuts coming out of my ears tbh, I buy pistachio, walnuts , almonds and peanuts ( not nuts apparently)
So with the powder I can have a nice cool fruity drink so it's a nice change, the powder was around £30 for 4kg so a beast of a tub
Edit probably a fair bit cheaper, region 30p per 40 grams ish
Also it was cheaper with it being vanilla but I put strawberries in and it's pretty lush, use a hand stick blender

I didn't word my post well, I'd checked out a recommended vegan protein/sunwarrior and it was that, that was 40g/£3 which I think is bloody expensive,
& I'd think nuts are cheaper.
... so if you have 30p for 40g of protein I'd take that as my first venture in 'supplements'

I weighed (first time ever) one of the bits/portions of chicken that went into this evening meal it was 100g .. I'd have to have eaten everyones meal to get the 350g ,
and recuperation from this evenings 10K
but judging by the lidl thread maybe everyone is buying 400g of steak per day per person.

I'm 42 and did my back in the other week, just bending down to pick something up. I definitely think you take longer to heal when you get older, as my back's still tender even now...

I pulled my hamstring stepping over the dog. My knees normally take a second to start working when I've been sat for a while and Im not even 50 lol.

51, Started couch to 5k. Now running 5k's (indoor on a commercial treadmill)
Drove from Liverpool to Portsmouth to catch the ferry for our euro road trip and i've got Achilles tendonitis now... From driving!!! What the actual ****. We'd brought all our running gear for our 6 week trip and I've not managed to run once.. Just on the elliptical trainer at the villa and now gone back a week or two.

In my 30's that would have meant an afternoon off........

That's pretty good the 5k.

I picked up Achilles Tendonitis a few years back and have really struggled with it. It caused a flare up of litany of old issues and I just bounce from one old injury to another. I'm really bad at sticking to physio though.

We are refurbishing our office and I was helping out today with moving AV and tech gear. Lot of unscrewing things and I've a touch of arthritis in the fingers which makes it tricky. Just don't have the dexterity I used to.

I developed a touch of arthritis in my middle finger a year or so ago in my right hand, enough so that I found it difficult to hold a gamepad after a while.

Tried this after seeing it recommended here, and the symptoms have disappeared.

Gone up a couple of quid since I bought it.

I'm 54 and for the last few years, I have just got used to random aches and pains appearing for no apparent reason, then vanishing. Also over stretching or any kind of awkward twist means way more pain than last decade and for longer too.

All in all, I can now feel that my body is in a slow decline to the grave! :(

I'll give that a go, thanks. I'm struggling with knee pain at the moment and have just been confirmed as having some arthritis in my left hip as well as knees.

There are different types of arthritis much of it just wear and tear. I find some joints flare up now and then. Or are bad for a while then fade away for a while. Keeping your core and muscle strength. Helps a lot. Things like pilates.

Went for a quick bike ride in menorca yesterday (on hols). I haven't been on a bike since last June.

Ended up doing about 60km and now my left knee hurts mightily and my right heel (plantar fasciitis) is excruciatingly painful.

Walking anywhere is horrible today.
