The older I get, the more I feel like "scary" games are going to give me a heart attack.

Years ago I used to love the adrenaline rush from intense shooters and survival games (Silent Hill etc), but now I find that these sort of games turn me into a gibbering wreck and I have to take a break every 10 mins!

How do I man up and get back into these games? Has anyone else found that they're more likely to be playing Farm Simulator these days than Dead Space? :p

I am usually never scared by any games, but i must admit to being unnerved occasionally whilst playing Dead Space with the lights off. It is still great though.

My main risk playing horror games these days is suddenly hearing a little voice at my shoulder going "Daddy, why is that man's stomach all open?"

Dead Space wasn't actually too bad because I thought the enemies looked ridiculous. Doom 3, however... Last time I tried playing that I got about half an hour in and stopped!

There's no way I can even consider playing Amnesia.

EDIT: LOL @ Sleepery! :p

Remember it is just a computer game dude!

"Controlled fear" you can turn off when you want.

Now old age, marriage, losing my job. Stuff like that really scares me but not pixels.

I don't really get scared in games, however there is nothing scarier than playing Minecraft with the sound off, then turning around just as a Creeper is about to kill you. Almost gives me a heart attack every time.

Only game I had to actually take breaks from was Space Hulk : Vengeance of the Blood Angels.

It had this freeze-time thing, where you had a limited amount of time to issue commands to your squad while the game was paused before it restarted again. Freeze time built up slowly while you were back in real-time, but you really needed it to issue commands.

It used to literally have me sweating :)

Force yourself to laugh when something scary happens. Eventually it'll be an automatic reaction, it's the only way my brain can deal with it.

Other than when you first encounter mannequins in Condemned:

I have to turn horror games off regularly as well. Even though it's a game I guess survival instinct kicks in. I know there are bad things in the next room, why the hell would I want to go in there?

Ahh yes! when i played doom3 this game has a tendancy of having things jumping out at you which jumps the hell outta me, also the ambient sound effects add to the realism.

Minecraft. Winter when you are in your room, curtains closed at about 12am, pitch black mining in a cave. All of a sudden...SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS...

Suffice to say, I **** my pants :(

The original F.E.A.R scared the **** out of me - the bit where you turn around to go down a ladder and the girl is on the ledge above you..

*whimper*

Hehehehe :)

I am getting worse, no doubt about it. There are a few highly amusing "scary game" threads on here. As for Amnesia, I played for less than five minutes and have no intention of going back to it. I should have known better when I found myself clutching the edge of my desk in a death grip just from watching the trailer.

I tried to play the 1st Dead Space but i was at the beginning seen a creepy thing on the floor, shot it to make sure it was dead, walked over to it and it pooped up and i **** myself and turned it off straight away.

I can watch horror movies but not play the games haha.
