Getting over a break up?

He said she wanted to be single :p

I read that bit (after I had posted, of course) but it is got to be more complex than that. You don't just decide after 3 years of a relationship to be single without good cause.

I was, therefore, interested in the underling cause. The OP may not know this yet, however.

Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner

When someone all of a sudden wants to be single, it often means that they have someone else in mind, or have been getting attention from else where!

Maybe it was just a better way of breaking up rather than saying "i dont love you anymore" or "were not working" but im only guessing.

I understand what your saying now :)

Wahey! That's just an excuse that she's bored of you, she'll probably be hooked up with another guy within a few weeks if she hasn't already got it set-up.

So, think of all the awesome stuff that you haven't been able to do because you've been shackled to the missus. Spontaneously decide to go visit a mate this weekend in some other town and not have to explain where you're going or why you're doing it. Get a couple of beers in and watch the sport, unhindered by bitching about watching Celebrity get me out of the Ice Rink!

Mates, mates, mates - your good mates will drop stuff to come help you have an awesome time, this should be understood by their other halves if they have them, if it isn't, expect to be joined in singledom by more people sharpish :p

Think of all the freedom you gave up by having someone else in your life, remember that now you're only accountable to one person - you - and go out and enjoy it for a bit!

However three years is a long time, so I am thinking that maybe they could have tried to work out what the problem is, rather than just going: Want to be single kthxbye.

This be good advice. Do anything you've wanted to do over the last three years that you've felt unable to. Money! Spend some money. Buy something expensive you've denied yourself. Subscribe to Sky Sports. In general, spoil yourself.

Not necessarily. I've been asked before "who else is it?" "What have i done wrong?" "Who are you after?" .

Fact is, i get bored or feel i want something different. Explaining that is impossible though. Also, mentioned her talking to her mates, that will have a lot to do with it, a womans mates have the final say in relationships and mine have swayed me on numerous occasions with "she's rough, you can do better, come out on the pull mate, you're under the thumb!"

Time and space, don't spend time with her, don't even speak to her for a few weeks. It will be weird at first, but if you're going to be apart you really need to get used to life that way. After time you might be able to be friends, don't try to do it straight off.

The best way to get over someone is to get under someone else

Yea, i was thinking that, but that might ruin all my chances of getting back with her,

I think i'm just gunna leave it a few weeks and then chat to her and see what he says, maybe be able to sort something just dating again and go from there

I just really don't want to lose her. She was my best friend.

I disagree with this & think it's about the worst thing you can do. For starters if his Missus changes her mind then finds out it will more than likely soil the reunion enough to cause another split.
Best thing to do is Party & party hard, Get on a 6 nights out a week routine & stick to it for at least a month. Do Stupid things like go to the Dam, Go to all nighters & generally be a complete party animal. Within a week you will wonder why you was ever in a relationship.

They always are. Till you realise that your real best friends are the ones that pick up the pieces, not the ones that decide to leave you!
