Hey.

Has anyone else ever had a bit of a tough time getting over a car accident? I have to say that having two accidents in the space of a few weeks has left me less than confident lately with some situations making me as nervous as I was on my driving test. :p

It's hard not to get some of those images coming back while driving like the bonnet suddenly flying up or the sudden detour towards a ditch. :p I've had to fight the urge to pull over and check the bonnet is secured several times already.

I guess it's all to do with the realisation of how quickly things can happen.

it will pass, I had an accident in the snow when it hit bad in the start of 2010, after the last lot of snow i lost my nerve a bit.

Perfectly normal and just a time thing, good work for not pulling over and checking, your on the road to recovery mate.

agree with snowball, rolled my car not long after my test, takes a while to get your confidence back but after a while you're back to normal.

One of my family still has issues with people pulling out junctions from the left since they had a pretty moderate accident about 25 years ago. I know that can't fill you with confidence, but therefore I think you should try and get over it now, as if anything, you'll be a better driver for it.

You've got to be confident and decisive when driving, as hesitation can be pretty dangerous in itself. Your accidents happened, that's too bad, but there's nothing you can do about it now. Time to carry on life as normal!

I span on the Nurburgring. And whilst I went back out the next day (almost no damage to the car) and had a pre-booked track day the month after which I went on, it was pretty much the end right then for me and driving.

My old man was given 3 months to live straight after, and I was 10K in debt at the time so these were probably big factors too. I kept the 200sx for over a year after but I dont think I went more than 10mph over the limit during this time.

It didnt scare me, but I couldnt stop thinking what would happen at 140mph rather than 65 on probably the slowest (it was wet too) corner. Knew I wasnt going back. Knew I'd only be doing a couple of track days per year due to expense. And knew I wouldnt really improve as a driver because of this.

Was on a high all the way up and to that point. And lost the driving urge in that instant basically.

I was a bit nervous for a week or two when i rolled my car, soon passes though and it makes you a better driver!
Mine was a bit of a downer post when something like the above is by far the most relevant for you. If you are thinking about your driving more now then its going to make you a safer driver. You will get your mojo and the driving itch back sooner or later.
