You could try extra vcore volts and maybe a little more to the northbridge, but it may not be possible to reach 3.6 as not all E6600 can get there without lots of voltage.

It's about temperature up to a point but eventually too much voltage causes damage due to electron migration, which will shorten the lifespan of the cpu. Intel says this is above 1.35. Personally I wouldn't go beyond 1.45v.

I would say leave the northbridge on auto.

I had to hit 1.5125v to get stable at 3.6 (400x9), think I had to bump the MCH (NB) volts up a notch too if memory serves.

This was with a Freezer Pro 7, 63 degrees load on both cores after 8 hours Orthos. Vid on my chip was 1.3125V, B2 stepping.
